A free page costs nothing to follow but sells most of its content as pay-per-view, so a heavy user often spends more on a free page than on a $10 subscription. A paid page bundles the wall into one price and tends to post more to it. If you want to browse widely, follow free pages; if you already know whose content you want, a paid subscription is usually the cheaper way to see all of it.

The three pricing models you will meet

What the data says

Across the 424 free accounts on this site the median page holds 88 photos and 7 videos. Paid pages in the same index hold noticeably more media per page on average, which is consistent with the content being included rather than sold separately.

Free pages also skew towards higher like counts, because there is no barrier to following. Likes therefore measure reach on free pages and satisfaction on paid pages — compare within a model, not across models.

A simple rule of thumb

If you would buy more than two PPV messages a month from a creator, their paid page (or their VIP page) is almost always cheaper. If you mostly browse, stick to free pages and treat PPV as optional.
